Don’t Pay for Exams Tips – Get it for Free from BerryBerryEasy

November 28, 2009

It has come to my notice that there are exams tips for sales all over the internet. Some are extremely popular based on the testimonial sheet on their website. Some require you to part with all your parent’s or your own hard-earned money so that you can get their tips. Imagine paying few hundred Ringgit $$$ for tips.

Education should be made free for all, education should be made fair for all, and more importantly, education should not be solely used for monetary gains. It is okay to be earning a living from education, but earning too much from poor students is not the way to go.

So I advise all student NOT to pay for exams tips, if you want it, please get it FREE from our website. Infact, please do not be over-reliant on tips. Despite our site’s 60% accuracy in STPM Biology 2009 Paper 2, I still advise student not to rely on tips. Use it as a guide only.

I’ll list out why you should not pay for tips,

5 Reasons why you should not pay for exams tips:

  1. Tips and predictions for SPM and STPM remained as prediction. There are no guarantee.
  2. Paying hard earned cash do not ensure that tips will be accurate, better donate it to charity.
  3. You have an alternative in BerryBerryEasy for tips (albeit for SPM/STPM 2009, we only have biology and chemistry).
  4. The tips often arrive last minute, so you might not have time to study anyway.
  5. Some predictions just predict everything.

So, I seriously advise all of you student not to pay for exams tips. Please study hard instead, and use BerryBerryEasy tips as guidance. I welcome comparisons of our exams forecast/prediction to any sites selling tips in a fair manner. (My views are mine alone, and not related to BerryBerryEasy) Having said all, good luck to all SPM and STPM 2009 students.

Tips are utterly useless without proper studying and preparation.

PS: Hope to get your opinion on this matter. :)

Types of Examination Paper : STPM 2009 Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics

November 27, 2009

Berry Berry Teacher noticed that students occasionally study too hard, without being overly smart. Of course it is good to be studying hard, but exam paper strategy is equally important. Most students have only one same technique to approach all subjects.

It is a bad strategy that will lead to low marks. Berry Berry Teacher had the privilege to compile the techniques and studying habits of quite a number of top scorers, and they agreed with me in the sense that every paper requires its own strategy.

So BerryBerryEasy will be presenting (in its simplest form), the types of exam papers, which paper fall into which category, how to tackle them (studying/exam strategies) and how BerryBerryEasy can help you. Please be noted that even papers from the same subjects sometimes can fall into different categories. The three major categories which all the young berries should take note are:

1) Berry “Practice Makes Perfect” Paper

Paper: Mathematics paper. – Mathematics T/S paper 1 & 2.

Description: There are no chances that you can try to predict or memorise any fact. This is a fully “practice makes perfect” paper. Young Berries must always follow your teacher instructions, do all the exercises and if possible do extra questions whenever you are berry berry free (throughout the whole semester). Even a genius Young Berry must not do any last minute study for this type of “Practice Makes Perfect” paper!

Strategy: The more you practise, the higher you will score. As straightforward as this.

2) Berry “Read It All” Paper

Paper: Chemistry Paper 2, Biology Paper 1

Description: Basically this is the most ideal examination paper among all the three as this really examines the student’s ability to understand the subject, at least according to the syllabus. In this category, predictions are near to useless as the paper tests nearly student’s knowledge on everything. Berry Berry good student should be extremely overwhelmed, because it is the best way to separate Berry Berry good students and merely just good students. Same like ‘Practice Makes Perfect Paper’, there is no way you can spot chapter to read.  The good thing about this paper is that, it is hard for Young Berries to fail in this type of paper unless they have really really did berry berry last minute studies. (However, it is also harder to score)

Strategy: Berries are required to understand concepts and memorise all the facts constantly. So all Young Berries must revise on all the topics/chapters that you have learned over the whole year/semester.

Special mention: Chemistry can be consider as a “general” subject that all the science stream students must take in STPM examination. Therefore, it is a good idea to put this paper in this category as this is the best way to filter berry lazy students.

3) Berry “Study Smart” Paper

Paper: Biology Paper 2

Description: This is mostly used in paper which required a berry berry big memorisation capacity. It is also usually used to test a part of students’ knowledge.

Strategy: Young Berries must study in a very smart way. How to study in smart way? Young Berries must pay attention to teacher’s explanation in every chapter and in each chapter you can find a few berry berry important topic (Young Berries can refer to the past year STPM analysis which Berry Berry Teacher has already simplified it in the site). Then you must have a set of keywords for every chapter. Young Berries do try to memorise it and draw out the concept map to make relationship between concepts. It will become berry berry handy for your final revision and before you are about to answer an essay question. And the last but not least, Young Berries must do some mini research on other state trial STPM paper. Look out which is the Berry Berry Hot topic for that particular year. (You may also use BerryBerryEasy prediction and tips as a guide, although Berry Berry Teacher still recommend that student study everything that is deemed important)

SPM/STPM 2009 Reminders – Things to bring

November 23, 2009

Seeing the chaotic scenario of today’s Pengajian Am/General Paper where essential items are not brought into the examination hall, Berry Berry Easy would like to remind all examination candidates to bring the following items.

SPM/STPM 2009 Last-minute Reminder – Things to bring

  1. Calculator
  2. Ball point pen (Blue/Black)
  3. Pencil
  4. Identification card
  5. Berry Berry fresh brain
  6. Berry Berry confidence

At the minimum, please bring the first four items. Best of luck. (Pack them in your bags now)

[Edit: BerryBerryEasy wish to add one more thing to bring. A motto!!! I hope Andrew won't mind that I borrow his ex-school's motto, "Forever Forward" for recommendation to Berry Readers for the duration of this exams.]

[Edit No.2: Forever Forward is an excellent motto during exams as irrespective of how you do in your last paper, you should always focus on the task ahead. However, it is also my personal opinion that in general life, sometimes we must also find a quiet place and reflect back on the past, in order to find a brighter future.]

Last minute tips for STPM 2009 Chemistry and Physics Paper 2

November 23, 2009

Important notification

STPM 2009 – e-marking answer booklet

In these papers, you will need to use answer booklet (same like today’s Pengajian Am paper) which is a pilot test of e-marking STPM Chemistry and Physics paper 2. All the young berries are requested to fully follow the instruction given. Please do not use correction liquid or sticker for the correction that you made. Just cancel it and rewrite your answer. Do request for extra paper if you want to scribble out your notes or calculation! but not extra booklet. Try your Berry Best for tomorrow’s paper!

Special wishes to all my students too. Stand tall and soar high for tomorrow’s Chemistry paper.

[Edit: Please be noted that the use of the e-marking answer booklet might not apply to all students. News have been received from Berry Readers that some states only uses the booklet for certain subjects. Thanks to DonFrank for the tip off and desperate_student (penang) and Guest_3053 (NS) for their confirmation]

SUCCESS!!! Berry Berry Easy’s STPM 2009 Biology Paper 2 Prediction Results : 60% minimum for prediction followers

November 21, 2009

SUCCESS!!! Berry Berry Easy is pleased to inform that our prediction is highly accurate for STPM 2009 Biology Paper 2 with 60 marks guaranteed for those who used our tips. Unlike other predictions which predicted many chapters, Berry Berry Easy only predicted 10 topics (due to the paper having only 10 questions) and would have provided 60% to our readers who followed the tips.

The proof is shown in the table below:

Volume-Chapter Topic Status in STPM 2009 Marks Contribution
Vol 1 – Chapter 2 Structure of Cells and Organelles No 0
Vol 1 – Chapter 4 Photosynthesis Section A – Q1 10
Vol 1 – Chapter 5 Respiration Section A – Q2 10
Vol 1 – Chapter 9 Homeostasis Section B – Q7 15
Vol 1 – Chapter 10 Nervous System No 0
Vol 2 – Chapter 5 Transmission Genetics No 0
Vol 2 – Chapter 6 Mutation Section A – Q4 10
Vol 2 – Chapter 9 Modern Genetics Technology No 0
Vol 2 – Chapter 13 Ecosystem No 0
Vol 2 – Chapter 14 Quantitative Ecology Section B – Q10 15
Total: 10 topics predicted - Correct prediction: 3 out of 4 compulsory questions in Section A, 2 out of 4 optional questions in Section B From prediction alone: Minimum of 60% is secured

So there you go, a guaranteed 60 marks for Berry Berry Easy followers. I’m sure those who took our tips seriously would have scored well, as besides the 60 marks from the predicted tips, I’m sure you would have scored some marks from the remaining 40 marks that were not predicted. (If you can score 15/40 from the non-predicted topics, you could have scored 75 marks, which should be enough to score an A)

So tune in for more tips. Drop me comments to let me know if you have benefitted from the tips. Or if you know any more accurate tips as compared to ours (provided they also only predicted 10 topics).

10 Things to Do on SPM/STPM Examination Day

November 17, 2009

Dear students who are taking STPM and SPM in the year 2009,

Berry Berry Easy wants to wish all of you “Best of luck for your exams”. Not wanting to take up your precious time, so we will be just reminding you all on 10 pointers before you head for the exam hall (things you have heard for 100 times, but let this be reminder no. 101):

10 things I did as a student on examination day when I took my SPM exams in 2000. Valid for STPM too. (Dos and don’ts)

  1. Do get adequate rest the day before exams. It does not need to be 8 hours as widely published but try to sleep the same amount of time you have been getting all year long.
  2. Do have breakfast. Just remember not to eat anything too heavy or anything that hinders your mind from thinking. (Sugar-boost is a big no-no. Energy drinks is out of the question too)
  3. Do bring a watch and set the time 10 minutes early. So that you might be able to push yourself a little bit but not enough to make you panic. (Also just in case the clock on the wall is not functioning)
  4. Do bring extra stationery. Extra pens and pencils. If you have extra calculator lying at home, bring them too. (But nothing illegal please)
  5. Do arrive early. Sometimes the unexpected might happen. You want to arrive a bit earlier to calm your nerves.
  6. Don’t walk to school if it is an afternoon. During the time when walking to school was the norm, many complained headaches during afternoon papers after they had their routine walk to school under the scorching sun. (It seemed like it is the rainy season, so you’ll more probably get drenched)
  7. Do remember to place your identification cards the day before the exams because you will be needing it. Some students failed to bring their identification cards and had to go through the trouble of identity verification.
  8. Don’t ask your friends exam related questions at the last minute, it will only make them panic. And they will in turn make you panic. Lose-lose situation.
  9. Don’t even think of cheating. You will get caught. But one non-cheating technique is to write things that you might forget on the question sheet the moment you are allowed to touch your pen. (Especially useful for memorising subjects)
  10. Do all your pre-exam rituals such as wishing your friends good luck, praying, hiding in isolation, going to toilet or anything which can bring you confidence or “luck”.

So there you go, things that you have heard for a million times. One last recap for you.

by Jo-Han (your new contributor)

PS: Special wishes to all SMK Dato Jaafar students taking the two major exams tomorrow.

STPM Biology 2009 – Tips and Predictions for Papers 964/1 and 964/2

November 14, 2009

Seeing the popularity of the tips and predictions for “STPM Chemistry 2009“, Berry Berry Easy will also publish the tips and predictions for STPM Biology 2009. (This should reply the numerous e-mails which we receive regarding tips for the Biology paper.)

Berry Berry Prediction STPM Biology 964 : Book Volume #1

Paper 1 – 964/1

STPM Biology is very different from its chemistry counterpart, therefore Young Berries must use a different technique to score A! In paper 964/1 (Paper 1), all the topics are evenly distributed and there is no way for you to skip any chapters!! (Diferrent from Chemistry 962/1)

Paper 2 – 964/2

However in 964/2 (Paper 2), you actually can predict the Berry Important Topics (BIT)! In Paper 2, you must try to get full answer (full points) for each of the BIT and do a mock self-test by writing it out on a test pad. Read it for a few times and before you enter the examination hall. Why?? So you will have the most freshest Berry Brain!

Berry Important Topics (BIT):

  • Chapter 1 (Basic Chemistry of a Cell)
  • Chapter 3 (Control in cells)
  • Chapter 4 (Photosynthesis)
  • Chapter 7 (Gaseous Exchange)

Not so important topic:

  • Chapter  6 (Nutrition) (Edit: Yachiru Aine highlighted that subtopic on saprophitic nutrition can be important too. So take note of it)

Semi-important topics: There are some topics that are BIT in Paper 1 but not in Paper 2 (totally did not appear in P2 from 2005 to 2007!!).

  • Chapter 2 (Structure of Cells and Organelles)
  • Chapter 11 (Hormone / Chemical Coordination)

Berry Berry Prediction STPM Biology 964 : Book Volume #2

Volume 2 Biology – typically 2 STPM MCQ will appear from every chapter, but still there are some chapters where the average is 1 question.

Chapters with normally least MCQ question:

  • Chapter 4 (Growth)
  • Chapter 10 (Taxonomy)
  • Chapter 13 (Ecosystem)

Not important chapter based on Berry Teacher’s analysis:

  • Chapter 10 (Taxonomy) – hardly appeared in Paper 1 and Paper 2.

STPM Biology Trends between 2006 and 2008 (Berry Berry Important)

Biology started to follow (2006) the Chemistry trend where there questions consist of elements from a variety of chapters. (Meaning, one question could involve more than one chapter) It is promoted as a good way to eliminate question-spotting. This is bad news for those who indulge in last-minute study. Luckily, there is not much changes between 2006 and 2008, so Young Berries still can choose the BIT to study.

Volume 1’s Berry Berry Important Topics (repeating in STPM 964/2):

  • Chapter 2 (Structure of Cells and Organelles)
  • Chapter 4 (Photosynthesis)
  • Chapter 5 (Respiration)
  • Chapter 9 (Homeostasis)
  • Chapter 10 (Nervous System)

Volume 2’s Berry Berry Important Topics (Young Berries must not skip):

  • Chapter 5 (Transmission genetics)
  • Chapter 6 (Mutation)
  • Chapter 9 (Modern genetics technology)
  • Chapter 13 (Ecosystem)
  • Chapter 14 (Quantitative ecology)

Do take notes, these are just prediction based on the STPM 964/2 question frequency, to get a better view, you must refer to the other state trial STPM Biology 964 paper! Also, spotting questions is not encouraged, understanding everything is still a better option. However, for those who still wants to spot questions, you may use this as a guide.

Good luck in your upcoming exams.

(Thanks to Yachiru Aine for pointing out the inadequacies in the earlier post. More feedback is welcomed)
