For Berry Readers who are unsure of the rules for STPM examinations or want to read a simplified and explained version in English, do check out the instructions for STPM 2010 Candidates (source from MPM’s Timetable for STPM). Do make sure that you follow the rules and do not in any way try to outsmart the rules.

It is not worth making a simple mistake and be penalised or banned from the examination halls. So make sure you read these rules although most of them are rather common-sense kind of rules.

Simplified Instruction for STPM Candidate Explained

  • You’ll need to be at the hall 15 minutes before the start of each paper. Preferably arrive much earlier to settle down properly.

Things to Bring:

You’ll need both documents of:

  1. Identification card
  2. Laporan Pendaftaran Kemasukan Calon (LPKC/1 or LPKC/2)

(Get your parents, siblings or anybody you meet prior to the exams to remind you)

Problems – Wrong Paper:

  • In event that you were given the wrong paper, please inform the invigilator at once.

(Do not feel shy to do so)

Things to Do Before the Start of the Examination:
On first page of your answer script, write your:

  1. I/C number
  2. Angka Giliran (Examination number – Personal)
  3. Kod and Nama Kertas (Paper name and its code)
  4. Tahun Perperiksaan (Examination year – 2010)

On external papers (attachments such as maps and graph papers), also write your:

  1. I/C number
  2. Angka Giliran (Examination number – Personal)
  3. Nombor Pusat (Examination Centre number)

- Make sure you have all those numbers written down somewhere for easy retrieval)

Allowable Stationery and Tools:

  • For writing tests, write only with black or blue ball point pen unless stated otherwise.
  • Coloured pencils or oter coloured ball point pens can only be used for graphs and maps.
  • 2B pencils must be used for multiple-choice questions.
  • You’ll have to bring your own mathematics and drawing tools for the appropriate subjects, they will not be provided to you.
  • If you are provided the Sifir Matematik Permulaan Cambridge; Tatatanda, Takrif, dan Rumus Matematik (Mathematical Notation, Definitions and Formulae ) and Buku Data (Data Booklet), please return them to the invigilators after the paper. If anybody fails to do so, it will delay the process to leave the hall. As the invigilators have to recount the books to ensure that they tally.
  • Ensure that your calculator is an approved calculator. Any noisy or programmable calculator cannot be used (unless specified). Do not also bring the catalogue or manual for the calculator. If you really need to learn how to use it, please learn it before entering the examination hall.
  • Handphones, camera, radio or any electronic appliance with wifi or bluetooth cannot be brought into the examination hall unless with the permission of the chief invigilator.

(Bring extra stationary if possible so that in case your friends forgotten to bring them, you may lend it to them)

Things to Do at the End of the Paper:

  • Please stop writing when asked to do so. Do not create trouble for yourself with the invigilators.
  • Arrange and tie your answer scripts according to order.
  • Please sit in your place and do not move about until all answer scripts have been collected. You may only move after the invigilators announce it.

Special Attention:

  • You are not allowed to fold your answer script to avoid being suspected for cheating. Shall you ever receive any folded papers, immediately alert your invigilators to avoid trouble later.
  • You are not allowed to take out any used or unused papers from the hall. This is to avoid being suspected for possible cheating in next paper.
  • Logically, do not smoke in the examination hall. Infact, try not to smoke anywhere near the area.

Time Clash
In event that you have simultaneous papers at the same time, do inform the chief invigilator and get information on when you can sit for those papers.

  • Do not give or receive anything in the ecxamination hall unless you have the permission from the chief invigilator. This include an innocuous eraser or calculator. If you really need anything, inform the invigilators. Don’t risk being caught for cheating.
  • Do not contact or disturb the other candidates in any manner, unless allowed by the chief invigilator and in the presence of him/her. Once again, to avoid being caught for cheating.

Now that you fully understood the rules, make sure you do not circumvent them in any possible manner.
