JPA Overseas Scholarship Allocation 2011

JPA overseas scholarship (2011) allocation has been a point of contention (as with other years). Berry Berry Easy wishes to inform Berry Readers on the allocation system for the JPA scholarship. While this might not be new information, but we still have some readers writing in to ask for clarification on the JPA/PSD Scholarship allocation. So for those who are still in the dark on the allocation for 2011, please read on:

What: JPA Overseas Scholarship Allocation
Year: 2011
Total scholarships awarded: 1500

The actual allocation:

  • 900 spots or 60% – Racial composition
  • 300 spots or 20% – By merit
  • 150 spots or 10% – Sabah and Sarawak Bumiputera
  • 150 spots or 10% – Socially disadvantaged


  • Those who scored 9As at minimum
  • Passing the interview
  • Passing the special test
  • Active in co-curriculum activities

Courses offered:

Based on the critical fiend required by the civil service which includes:

  1. Architecture
  2. Dentistry
  3. Engineering
  4. Law
  5. Medicine
  6. Pharmacy
  7. Science and Technology
  8. Social Science (selected subjects only)

*Please do not confuse this with local JPA scholarships.

So what is your view on this? Is the allocation fair? Is this the best method for distributing the scholarships (taking into considering redistribution of wealth)? Can you think of any better distribution ratio? We wish to listen to all constructive opinions and criticisms in order to improve the system, if required.
